Hazardous day at the office

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

I had the following conversation a few minutes ago via text with Bill:

BILL: It is getting interesting here. A student just shot a firework into the building. It broke the window and filled the stairway with smoke. Luckily no one was hurt.

ME: Not good! Is the gendarme just watching from their windows? (note: gendarme is the national police. They have a post across the street from Cat)

BILL: Yes.

ME: Now I have to worry about you.

BILL: No worries.

ME: You gonna get locked in tonight?

BILL: (…) was hurt

ME: What?

LONG PAUSE

ME: I don’t understand. Who was hurt? What’s being done to keep you safe?

BILL: No one was hurt.

BILL: The police will be called.

ME: Soon?

BILL: The student that shot off the firework was quickly taken away by the union.

passport

So my passport expires in June. I figured I probably need to deal with that sometime soon. But not this month, I’m going to London. And not next month, I’m going to Germany. And the beginning of May, we’re going to Italy.

According to the consulate’s website, I have to call and make an appointment in Lyon. Ok. So I called to make the appointment and was told, oh, no, I just have to send in all the paperwork to the consulate in Paris. All the paperwork includes my current passport. So I have to be without a passport for 2-3 weeks. After it gets to them. So more like a month. And that’s assuming nothing goes wrong. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Maybe I can pay to expedite it. I should have “lost” it before we moved here because then I’d have years before it expires. Doh.
